Elgin Vintners

The beautiful Elgin Valley is a high inland plateau, completely surrounded by mountains, just 70km from Cape Town, South Africa. It is rapidly gaining a reputation for the production of premium quality wines. This is the home of The Elgin Vintners, publishers of fine wines, a close knit partnership of 6 dedicated wine growers from the Elgin Valley.

Six grape growers have joined forces to establish Elgin Vintners. The 2005 Elgin Vintners Sauvignon Blanc is our maiden release with a screw cap, the first in Elgin to do so. The grapes were harvested on 3 different farms and crafted into what we believe is a wine displaying freshness, fruitiness, depth of character and a rare complexity.

A more recent development has been the establishment of 40 hectares of vineyards for quality wine grape production, with the modern generation of vineyards dating from 1985 to the present time. The first wine produced was a 2003 Sauvignon Blanc released under the Oak Valley label.

Thandi Wines

Thandi is the Xhosa word that means "nurturing love". It is a unique concept that lies at the heart of one of South Africa's most significant transformation stories. Established in 1995, Thandi's aim is to empower previously disadvantaged farming communities. Their love and passion has given Thandi a reputation for exceptional quality.

Revitalised international interest in South African wines provided an ideal opportunity to create a viable product for global export, and so Thandi Wines was born. From the outset, the imperative was to involve community members at all levels, from growing to actual wine making. It also became clear that Thandi's success would depend on sound partnerships and so it was that Vinfruco, one of South Africa's leading wine exporters, came to play a vital role in terms of mentorship, infrastructure and marketing expertise.

To accompany the highly rated Pinotage and Chenin Blanc, the range includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonay, Shiraz and a classic red blend called Ariana. Wildekrans Wines

The farm was purchased in the 1970's. After trying many different crops, it became obvious that Wildekrans was an ideal spot to grow grapes. The lean harsh soil produced grapes with small berries, that resulted in flavourful wines. Their mission is to produce wines that compete with the top 20% of the worlds premium white and red wine growing regions. These wines must be easy to enjoy, good with food and presented in all price categories.
